A wedding I photographed last October, over the Columbus Day Weekend, included a "Second Line".
The Bride and Groom followed a New Orleans Brass Band that played traditional Jazz music. The wedding party and guests attending the ceremony at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church created a "Second Line" as the band wound through the streets of the French Quarter. The parade, which was covered by Fox News, ended at Pat O'Brien; a landmark bar on the 600 block of St. Peter Street. The Algiers Brass Band, (504)394-3043, as Robby the groom said.. was awesome"!

ReplyDeleteHow come Fox News got involved? Was it that big of a parade?
Now I have to google second line. Wondering if this is a NOLA tradition.
Just started following another blog on this thing and remembered yours and am wondering - what ever happened to this idea of yours?
